Sample Prostheses: Alejandro Padilla

Anaplastology is a specialized healthcare field that provides patient-specific, restorative prostheses for patients who have suffered trauma to or loss of anatomy due to injury, disease, or congenital origin. Customized prosthetic rehabilitation may be an alternative treatment option to surgical reconstruction. Anaplastology services are intended to restore affected anatomical features of the body including but not limited to the face, hands, feet, or breast.

The IAA promotes quality patient care by supporting the development of best practices in anaplastology through educational conferences, networking, publication, and advocacy opportunities.

This year's conference theme – FLOW .

For Anaplastologists, FLOW can mean so many things. Whether we are discussing the behavior of the materials we use, such as viscosity, opacity, adhesion, stability; or the flow of a patient from one healthcare provider to the next; the process workflows that govern what we do everyday; how patients flows through their own healthcare journey with us; or, how we as anaplastologists flow through this vocation, dealing with the struggles and victories that come with our everyday– FLOW is inherent in everything we do and how we do it.

This year's conference will include presenters who express this theme while sharing their clinical activities, research and experiences. We hope you will enjoy being in person in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as we embrace this theme and walk through the encounters of anaplastologists and other allied health care professionals as they deliver care to their patients, interact with their colleagues and investigate techniques to improve quality of care for their patients.  Scheduled for June 16-17, 2023, we hope that you'll plan to join us!
